POSITION INTRODUCTION

Terraform Construction Ltd. is looking for an experienced landscape construction professional who takes pride in building quality projects and knows how to get work done efficiently.
Our landscape construction crews work on projects throughout Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby, New Westminster, Delta, Surrey, Langley, Coquitlam and surrounding areas of Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.
This position is ideal for an experienced landscaper, hardscape installer, Lead Hand or Foreman who wants steady work, competitive compensation and the opportunity to earn more based on performance.
This is not an entry-level landscaping position.
We are looking for someone who already has professional landscape construction experience and can contribute immediately.
COMPENSATION
Earn $30–$40 Per Hour Based on Experience
Your starting wage will depend on your experience, qualifications and the level of responsibility you can handle independently.
$30–$40/HOUR
Candidates toward the higher end of our compensation range should be capable of several of the following:
• Leading a landscape construction crew
• Reading landscape drawings and blueprints
• Laying out projects from construction plans
• Establishing grades and elevations
• Operating mini excavators and skid steers
• Installing paver stones to professional standards
• Building Allan Block and segmental retaining walls
• Managing labour efficiently
• Managing materials and minimizing waste
• Driving trucks and equipment trailers
• Completing projects with limited supervision

Can You Read Landscape Drawings & Blueprints?
The ability to read and interpret landscape drawings, construction blueprints and site plans is an important qualification for this position.
Ideal candidates have experience with:
• Reading landscape construction drawings
• Reading site plans and blueprints
• Understanding dimensions and measurements
• Understanding grades and elevations
• Establishing site elevations
• Using lasers and grading equipment
• Laying out projects according to plans
• Translating construction drawings into accurate work in the field
Candidates who can independently review plans, lay out projects and establish grades will be considered for the higher end of our compensation range.
EQUIPMENT OPERATION
Mini Excavator & Skid Steer Operators Wanted
Equipment operating experience is a major asset.
We are particularly interested in landscape construction professionals who have experience safely operating:
• Mini excavators
• Skid steers
• Plate compactors
• Cut-off saws
• Concrete and paver saws
• Lasers and grading equipment
• Landscape construction power tools
• Pickup trucks
• Dump trailers
• Equipment trailers
You should be able to operate equipment safely and efficiently around crew members, existing structures and active construction sites.
PAVER INSTALLATION
Experienced Paver Stone Installers
Terraform installs paver patios, walkways, driveways and other hardscape projects throughout Metro Vancouver.
Experienced applicants should understand that professional paver installation starts long before the pavers are laid.
Paver installation experience may include:
• Excavation to proper depths
• Subgrade preparation
• Road-base installation
• Proper compaction
• Establishing elevations and drainage
• Bedding material preparation
• Paver layout
• Cutting pavers
• Installing borders and edge restraints
• Jointing sand
• Final compaction
• Professional finishing

RETAINING WALLS
Allan Block & Retaining Wall Experience
Experience building Allan Block and segmental retaining walls is another major asset.
Applicants with retaining wall experience should understand:
• Excavation
• Base preparation
• Compaction
• Establishing a level first course
• Drainage rock
• Drainage pipe
• Geogrid where required
• Block installation
• Cutting retaining wall blocks
• Maintaining grades and elevations
• Installing caps
• Backfilling and finishing
We are looking for people who understand that retaining walls need to be built correctly from the base up, not just made to look good when they're finished.
LEAD HAND / FOREMAN RESPONSIBILITIES
Can You Lead a Landscape Construction Crew?
This is a hands-on leadership position.
This is a hands-on leadership position. Our Lead Hands and Foremen lead from the front and work alongside their crews when required.
Our Lead Hands and Foremen are expected to lead by example and work alongside their crews.
Responsibilities may include:
• Reviewing landscape drawings and project requirements
• Planning daily production
• Laying out projects
• Establishing grades and elevations
• Organizing crew members
• Assigning daily tasks
• Working alongside the crew
• Operating equipment
• Monitoring labour hours
• Monitoring productivity
• Coordinating materials and equipment
• Minimizing material waste
• Keeping projects on schedule
• Identifying problems before they become expensive mistakes
• Maintaining organized job sites
• Maintaining Terraform's workmanship standards
• Communicating with management
• Completing projects efficiently

DRIVER & TRAILER REQUIREMENTS
Valid Driver's Licence Required
A valid driver's licence is required for this position.
Applicants should be comfortable driving work vehicles and ideally have experience with:
• Pickup trucks
• Ford F-350 or similar work trucks
• Dump trailers
• Equipment trailers
• Properly connecting trailers
• Loading and unloading mini excavators
• Loading and unloading skid steers
• Securing equipment and materials
• Safely towing trailers
A heavy trailer endorsement is an asset where applicable.
